Alachua Today

I am so happy! I got an internship for this summer at Alachua Today. It’s a weekly publication that’s about 30 mins. outside of my school and they seem really nice. I am going to go and meet them and see the office when I get back in town. I hope they like me enough to allow me to keep working with them during the school year or something. I’m crossing my fingers.

Internship

It’s weird that I started getting this blog ready a few days ago. I found out last night that I will be interning at BNET.com. It’s a part of CBS Interactive that focuses on business. They have just started their industry section and they will be paying me to work 40 hours a week, writing stories for them daily in NY.

It’s kind of funny how this came to be. I have been published online a lot during my first year at UF, but I haven’t gotten to be in a print edition of the “cash cow”–The Independent Florida Alligator. I was going to write features for them this summer, but that is not going to happen now. They are a great publication, and with so many journalism students submitting articles every day, they can’t get to everyone. I understand that and I will continue to be patient with them when I submit things to their editors. They are very nice and I hope to write for them someday.

Now I’ve got a new “cash cow” in BNET.com. I hope this will be a great experience for me. It will definitely give me more journalism to write about in this blog.
